University of London is putting together a PhD opportunity that focuses on correctional officers that they aim to submit for a particular PhD funding programme in Autumn at King’s College London. The overall aim of the proposed mixed methods PhD is to explore moral injury among correctional officers and how this impacts on their health and occupational (sickness absence, intention to leave, presenteeism) outcomes. This will be jointly supervised by Dr. Sharon Stevelink, Professor Neil Greenberg and Professor Gail Kinman.
As part of this programme, they would like to work with a case partner to ensure the PhD meets the needs of this occupational group and provide an additional learning and development opportunity for the successful student. In general, this means an in kind contribution, often a 13 week secondment, and opening up networking, training and dissemination opportunities for the student. They have done this successfully before with a variety of partners like DWP, NHS E/I and also military charities.
